Christ and The Law

Romans 10:4 (KJV)
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Grace is the greatest gift that the earth has ever known or will ever know. All that is available for the Church in Jesus Christ from God is packaged in grace, hence the devil is out with every available means that there is in his kingdom to cause a corruption of the message of grace.

You may have heard that all that is needed for Christians in our dispensation is the new testament and that the old testament is old and has been done away with.

One common quote to back the above is from our text and it is commonly quoted as, ‘for Christ is the end of the law’. However, this quote is incomplete.

Now, let’s see the complete quote, ‘For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.’

Christ did not put an end to the law, no, he put an end to the law for righteousness. Christ has put an end to righteousness by the works of the law, simply put, good works do not make us righteous, instead, we were made righteous to do good works and this righteousness is by faith in Jesus Christ.

Read Matthew 5: 17-18.

Go into today knowing that if the righteousness you have does not produce good works, you are not righteous(see 1 John 3:7). Christ did not come to raise a lawless Church, He came to raise a righteous church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing (Ephesians 5:7).

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from every spirit of lawlessness, and help live a life ruled by your grace. Amen.
